Woman Speak: The Stories of the Day, is Brightfire Woman's Journal  dedicated to events and people in the news.

So... I am not a reporter. I have the highest respect for journalism. This is not journalism; it is what should result from journalism, opinion and acts of self-expression; the birth of something that hopefully adds to the conversation, something that stimulates a social empathy, a common ground of understanding on the subjects of these days in which we live.

The Global International Women's Day Now Accepting Art and Story Submissions for 2012.

It is not often that I run across an event that is right up my alley and yours in time for active participation, usually I am just promoting events. Not this time.

I will be submitting work for The Global IWD Women's Arts Initiative 2012, with a submissions deadline up to March 8, 2012, the actual date of the event, International Women's Day, although submissions will be posted to the website as they come in, to lead up to the event, so sooner than later is requested.

What I like about this initiative is it includes 2-D and 3-D on the art and has a separate competition for stories. The guidelines are clear and concise and easily met by creating a new original work specifically for submission and not posting it anywhere else according to their terms and time frame of their usage.

"While preferred, but certainly not at all mandatory, the artwork could include a gender element to it and include a short corresponding 'artist's note' (i.e. text about the work)." Ladies rev your engines...pull out the muse and let the games begin in celebration of our day our way.
