My Picks for this Summer's Burqini and Islamic Apparel

And the Newest Post Sure to please    My Picks for Modest Fall Fashion 2010

Last night it finally sunk in as to why my first post to Woman Speak, (see: http://www.womansmojorisings.com/woman-speak/2009/8/19/in-the-world-today-a-muslim-bathing-suit-finally-ladies-you.html ) has remained my most popular post ... and has really been on fire lately...it's time to be thinking about this season's spring summer fashions.  Initially I was just going to find the designer information from the post, which is Aheda Zanetti and located in Sydney, Australia, but then it turned into one of my web surfing adventures of gleaning the best information for you.

Starting with a great video:

http://www.smh.com.au/multimedia/world/meet-the-burqini-creator/20090813-eiu2.html

Meet the burqini creator

20 AugSydney swim wear designer Aheda Zanetti is keen to show that girls clad in Burqinis can be surfie chicks too. Although the burqini is a common sight in swimming pools and beaches in Sydney and Melbourne, it has caused a stir in Europe and been banned in French pools.

The above presentation is a co-creative that incorporates the photographically based on mural art surf boards by artist, Phillip George.

And onward to my favorite U.S. company for the Burquini, Splashgear - Modest Full Coverage Swimwear:

https://splas004.secure.omnis.com/store/index.php

It gets thumbs up for:

  •  Made In The USA High labor standards for the makers, quality materials and still reasonably priced
  • UV UPF 50 Protection due to, according the their FAQ, "Generally, the UPF of a fabric increases as the color gets darker and as the weave of the fabric gets tighter."
  • Misses &Woman sizes
  • Their Resort shirt is made for a more mature body line, a relaxed fit, although if you are wearing it for religious reasons you will have to wear an under garment as it does tend to float up the body, more than the sporty design.
  • And finally, the company eloquently explains that this is specially designed strictly for swimming and is, in fact, inappropriate for daily wear and uncomfortable for any other purpose. :-)  "Splashgear swim wear is designed to be used only for water activities and not for working out, or exercising.  The synthetic fabrics used in the line do not allow the skin to 'breathe' like other fabrics, such as cotton or Coolmax® polyester fibers.  For workout/exercise clothing, Splashgear recommends specific products that are designed to wick moisture away from your skin, as the Splashgear products will not be able to function in this manner."

above : I love the way this fabric moves with the body while swimming!

Above:  This is how it looks exiting the pool, Splashgear instructs, that with one outward tug, the top of suit releases from the body and relaxes as the do the bottoms in taking a couple steps out of the water.

Now moving on to, Couture Islamic Apparel by 'Rebirth of Chic', big thumbs up!

  • Incredible style, these are designs that have charm, grace, and femininity. And they are lively. I would wear these, I can see that they could have major appeal to a young audience, that likes to dress for comfort...some are almost sweetly romantic and very artistic.
  • They carry a line called designerwear and feature the work of Designer Cordelia, who I ADORE!!!!
  • Again it is a U.S. company
  • It is so shareable!  You can send a friend an e-card, a gift certificate, and at the bottom of the page is: Send a friend an email
  • It is also so reasonably price, and they have this great section called, "Off the Rack"
