There is a popular myth that "home" is a place of boredom and routine. That is not saying that one cannot make it so, but "home" is really the only place we have on earth where we are free.

To an extent, of course, what with renting and mortgages but in no other aspect of our lives are we able to choose how we spend our time then when we are at home. Everywhere else - from work to school to restaurants and bars - our behavior is strictly controlled by limits or schedules created by others.

How appreciative are you of the freedom you have in your home? Or have you chosen to impose an outside form on your life?

Creativity and change is nurtured and supported by freedom. The core freedom of mankind lies in our ability to choose how we react.  In today's world we would all do better to be mindful of how we live in our homes as it is one of the few places in which we can experience freedom of choice.
