8:57 AM playing games
seems like we get stuck between two things as we get older...either its the phrase "playing games" in which we are talking about game playing as a bad, manipulitive and decietful thing or, we treat "playing games" as something that requires us to return to an artificial childhood to try and enjoy ourselves.
Playing games...together...not so much alone (Solitaire is a way to pass time)...is a way to connect to someone else. We forget, sometimes, that our primary form of communication is through the simple experience of another person's presence. Instead we adopt language as the only means to become close to someone.
Silence, with a shared activity, can do more to strengthen a relationship sometimes then 8 hours of processing and sharing.
That is important too. But we all need moments of simple shared company.
