6:57 AM Being Different
"Our differences are more apparent then real."
Every one sees things differently. If you sat two people down and placed a tea cup between them and told them to look at it, each would see a different tea cup.
For one, the tea cup would be pretty, a happy thing, and remind them that they were thirsty and perhaps wanted some tea.
For the other, the tea cup would be...outdated, antiquated and well, just a plain tea cup with nothing special about it. They prefer mugs.
What we see, how we interpret it is based on our experiences. The tea cup is only what it is: a tea cup. It is neither in style or out, pretty or ugly, better than or worse then a mug.
The tea cup is real.
Our differences about what we perceive the tea cup to be are very valid, but not real. Our perceptions are formed by layers of emotions and experiences and then decisions and judgments formed that try to grant us surety and safety when stepping into the unknown. Even if that unknown is simply the next minute of our lives.
It become easier to connect to people who are very different from us when we recognize that we share the same real things. What we think and feel is very valid, but mostly in regards to our own past. We can choose to reshape our futures by choosing to look at things for how they really exist outside of ourselves rather then seeking to define the worlds according to our selves.
