If any of you have ever had any kind of speech impediment, let alone a dry mouth, you can relate to the problems I had recording this morning's chapter of Chesterton. It was all S's and it took me about 20 tries to get past the first paragraph.

Now, I am still not editing or doing any production on the recordings so you can hear me mess up everywhere but my one allowance is - if I well and truly flub it in the first few paragraphs then I get to start again.

I haven't posted the links to the other chapters in the blog for no good reason then forgetting but if you need to catch up you can find them in the reverbnation player or through my main site loveandwords (I have a growing "table of contents" list on the first page).

I am sure that someone is going to start their day of being righteously offended by that short chapter...

[:)]

bear in mind that he is setting a stage and tapping into various beliefs about women that he states toward the end of the chapter are false - but points out they have not only come to be believed but to effect choices and actions within the movement. In the next chapter he begins to go backward in order to move forward again.

Between reading Chesterton and putting together the radio shows (plus the violin and a few other things I am recently involved with) I almost feel like I am back in school. And the...energy is coming back, that kind of thrilling engagement.

I had a talk with someone recently, a good friend of mine who has been retired for quite some time and she is struggling to find things of interest. She doesn't want to join a book club because the books they choose don't engage her (big deal she says, someone killed Miss Pym, who cares who did it?), television and movies are holding little interest, fiddle faddling around in polite conversation for company is falling short as well and as we talked we sort of came to the conclusion - in putting both of our experiences together, that a kind of boredom, restlessness and depression can set in when you are not engaged in doing something.

This is someone, who as a former passionate hobby, made tons of things on the computer - graphics, videos, slideshows, music and now doesn't. As we looked at that we discovered that as computer software has "advanced," it has also gotten more limited. For instance, I still use,as my main audio production software, one that is over ten years old. Why? Because the new and fabulous ones, although easier to use, have more limited options. In the drive to allow everyone to do it, they took away the range of possibility.

She is fooling with the idea of going and finding books of the type that engage her on gutenberg and volunteering to translate them.

Puzzles. I am beginning to think more and more that puzzles - the figuring out of, the creation of are necessary to keeping oneself fully engaged and living. I think, somehow we have begun to oversimplifythings and over specialize them...but wait, that is talked about in the next chapter.
