It took until about 10am this morning, then I looked at the woman behind the counter at my café and said, "You know, I've just got this thin layer of 'pissed off' floating just behind my eyes today and there is no good reason for it.'
And she laughed and said, "Oh, that's how I felt yesterday but today is fine."
Which suddenly made my vague pissiness that much more bearable. Because it is driving me insane, the back seat chatter and harumphness going on in my head today while the driver, at the front of my brain, keeps shooting meaningful looks into the back seat via the rear view mirror and saying "You know there is no rational reason for you to be thinking this way."
And there isn't. But there it is. Just a small little vibration of irritation behind everything today. I cannot wait to get to the gym and just beat it out, that always helps.
I realized last night, as I went to try the old "play with her till she passes out trick" that part of the reason MK has been waking me up so early has nothing to do with yard time and more to do with the fact that I have been leaving the house at 7 and not getting back till 9 at night for the past two weeks. It wasn't the yard time she was looking for, it was time around me. So, a prolonged lovefest later and she slept in to 3:30 - which is progress.
That and I am carrying around some residual reactions to some things in the news. Everything from the Trump nonsense to the fact that locally, the gay marriage act was defeated. Now, while I am a proponent for human rights and think that there is no excuse for rights to be denied to anyone for any reason, I am also pragamatic and am coming to a greater and greater understanding of how our political system works and how votes are generated and just want to smack whoever continued pushing on the marriage bill for having the political savvy of a flea. I just want to smack Trump. It amuses me to no end that people are like "oh he is such a business man." They seem to have forgotten all the trouble his businesses got into about ten years ago when it was revealed that he conducts business much like our banks have conducted giving loans, mortgages and credit ratings - everything is on paper and nothing is real. That is when he "remade" himself as the reality TV star in which he plays the businessman, he had to do this because his reputation as a real one suffered so much when it was revealed how poorly his businesses were run and what a shyster he was.
Then again, he is an awful good embodiment of America right now on all sides - from the false business code and sense to the manipulation of entertainment media to "educate" and control voters.
I am almost of a mind that the thing that would help us most is to freeze politicians in their terms for one solid extra round. No re-election, just a double term and then they are out. Let them stay and work their way through the consequences of their decisions. When you think about it, we lose them almost halfway through their terms as they become more concerned about re-election anyway. Maybe making them sit and experience some follow through would also help to diffuse all this bipartisan nonsense that is going on. Its easy to point and blame something on the other party if all you ever do is have enough time to start something or go into emergency cleaning mode.
It is beautiful out. I am just a scant few hours away from getting on the bicycle and riding around and I can't wait
