This is interesting and quite unexpected, after all the buzz and redoes. You have a flair for presenting abstract concepts, but in this one I can really see what drew you to her and her work and in that I now see the symbolic connection in each for you. Or rather this one really is a confirmation of all the rest. I love the segment with the placement of the feather just so, maybe here... no... maybe there... no ...maybe... hummm...yes. Explain decaying things...are we talking found remains? Feathers, bones, etc? Dead branches...
It is a very successful communication in that what is wordless is captured in the visual to be thought about and talked about. I also loved the unveiling at the start, as it holds the feel of ritual and sacred, as if even the artist is humbled when it is done just so.
the whole process was an unveiling in more ways then one, in a way the hearts series was something she had been working on in private (being known as a ceramicist) but the more she worked on them, the more she got into the idea of there being life left in what was discarded the more "taken" with the hearts she became...I loved doing this one but my god, it took months to figure out how to whittle down 40 minutes of footage and a 2 hour taped interview to this :)
