Marvin the Mouse

is living in the house,

in the cupboard,

with my dishes.


Marvin got upset when I closed the door this morning and started rattling pots and pans which woke up the mad kitten in her flannel nest on top of the cupboard.


and her reaction?


to look at me with those "how could you?"eyes and curl up tighter and go back to sleep.


The funny thing is when she brought Marvin over from the other section I was on the phone. And I kept pointing and snapping at what I now know I consider "her half" of the room and she didn't put Marvin down in my half, but went back to hers.


But then of course, she tried to bring him back over and the process repeated. Now, poor Marvin, during the ten minutes of back and forth, just sort of lay in her mouth with glassy eyes. But as soon as she let him go he was up and at 'em.


Now he is in the cupboard.


I have a mouse who gets upset with me if I close the cupboard door and a cat who just looks at me with disgust if her sleep is disturbed. What did I do to deserve this?


I am not sure why I feel like today is a holiday. I still have to work, albeit stop working at 2 to go to my dinner, then it is back at work. But maybe it is because, in my walk for coffee this morning, people are out and smiling.


Maybe it is something in the air.
