This remains one of my most favorite videos for having a good laugh at your own sense of self. It says simply we are after all just a bunch of monkeys, just upright walking breast feeding mammals. It makes you think about all the things we come to treasure that are really just shiny trinkets we are impressed with. I think laughter is the most emotionally freeing and yet stablizing ability we have. There are some really serious issues that when you think about it, it is all rather foolish and tragic behavior...tell you get it, yeah, we are after all a bunch of neurotic little monkeys.

Let's face it, we all want to help with the problems plaguing our oceans. Yet we go to the store and feel overwhelmed. It all looks the same to us, doesn't it? Wild or farm raised? There are some circumstances where wild catch is better than farm raised, as in the case with salmon, where the farming actually kills off the wild population and polutes the ocean. As consumers we know there is waste before it even gets to us. About 25 % of every catch goes to waste, as it happens to be, not what they were fishing for. There are losses in transportation all along the way.
So we really want to do the right thing and yet, here we are standing in front the airconditioned case with our brows knitted reading the fine print and sighing. Often the information is just not there, and you just give up and grab what you normally would buy... or skip the surf and head for the turf. And feel guilty and swear, next time, you will be more prepared to figure it all out. You don't have a clue how to go about that...but...but... well, thanks to the Monterey Bay Aquarium, those days are over!
